Gearing up for more cold weather

And while the pipes did freeze last cold snap, it wasn’t anything like the disaster at the Secretariat Center!  If you haven’t read Susanna’s blog, take a look.  Maker’s Mark Secretariat Center.

So, Ron put a light down in the well to keep that from freezing again.  I have the taps running.  All the water troughs are filled and plugged in.  All set, except for blankets.  I have a few hard keepers/older gentlemen and ladies who need a little extra help when the weather turns ugly, but at the moment, it is almost 50 degrees!  Hard to believe this beautiful, sunny day will be 17 degrees and snowing at 4 AM tomorrow.  So, I will wait as long as I can and then put on the jammies.

Great.  We go from rain and knee deep mud to frozen and six inches of snow in 24 hours.  I heard California could use some of this weather.  Could we swap for a week or two?

Isn’t winter fun?! We get down to 25 tonight, which is bone chilly for us, so everyone gets blankets but like yourself, we have to wait for the temp to drop out of the high 60s or they’ll roast.
